The 9 Week Cycle

At Amersham School, our 9 week cycle sits at the heart of what we do. By highlighting how the teaching and learning elements of the school simultaneously support student development, it drives school improvement by ensuring that departments and Year teams follow the same processes and schedules. It also provides middle leaders the space to act autonomously and respond to student need appropriately. This helps to create a parity of experience for both students and staff and promotes cross department fertilisation and sharing of best practice.

The 9 week cycle also supports our ethos of purposeful practice by timetabling academic mentoring, study skills and a designated Purposeful Practice week.
