Intent
Through the study of Sociology, students will begin by investigating the research methods use by Sociologists and applying them to their own research. They will also go on to study an array of topics that are relatable to the modern world in which they live. We look at key sociological concepts and theories such as Feminism and Marxism which applies to the topics studied. Students look at Education, Culture and Identity, The Media and Crime and Deviance throughout the two year course. An array of opportunities to engage with reading, docuseries, podcasts and so on, allows our students to develop their skills as well as knowledge and understanding of the units further. During their learning journey, Amersham School students will be equipped with the skills and moral conscience that not only underpins our school values and ethos but allows them to flourish in the wider world.
