Intent
The organisation of Health and Social Care services is consistently evolving, to meet the needs of service users and changes in how care is delivered. Studying Health and Social Care provides learners with an understanding of the skills within the sector, key fundamental knowledge, providing a broad basis for higher education and employment across the industry.Through studying Health and Social Care, students will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of specialist and realistic topics, whilst positively learning how to challenge stereotypes and discrimination. Health and Social care allows students to develop a greater understanding of human development and how to critically analyse factors that impact daily life.
The Health and Social Care course is designed to build knowledge of units, upon one another, providing students the opportunity to become confident learners. This allows opportunities to embed their knowledge within a variety of subjects across the curriculum where students are mastering literacy skills.
Care values which are studied throughout Health and Social Care, incorporate empathy, commitment, compassion and empowerment. These care values are also at the heart of our school ethos; encouraging our students to become positive global citizens.
