Communication with parents

We believe that effective communication is essential between all members of our school community;  everyone has a voice and their opinion is valued.  We encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s education that extends beyond checking the student planner and attending parents’ evenings.  Should you wish to contact the school about issues that concern you, please contact the school office to make an appointment with the appropriate member of staff.  All members of our staff are friendly and approachable and keen to work alongside parents to maximise their child’s potential. We endeavour to respond to all communication within 24 hours of receipt.

ParentMail

We are registered with a company called ParentMail®, which is used by over 2,500 schools across the UK to communicate with parents by email and text message.  ParentMail is beneficial because:

Messages will get to you reliably

  • We can send messages directly to all primary contacts for each student
  • You will quickly know about important or urgent messages
  • We can tell you more about what’s going on at the school
  • We can keep you informed of all events and activities organised by the Amersham School Association

Please be assured that ParentMail2® is registered with the Data Protection Registrar and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation.

We use the SIMs Parent App to communicate with you regarding your child's attendance, conduct, timetable and performance. We will also use it to communicate homework from January 2020. All reports are sent out via the App; if you are unable to sign up for the app, please contact communication@amershamschool.org and we will either email you a copy, or we will send a paper copy home with your child.

If you have not yet signed up for the App, please check your email inbox for an invitation email from noreply@sims.co.uk .There will be a link to click on, and you will be asked to choose an account to use. SIMs will currently only link with a Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Twitter account; if you do not have one of these accounts, you will be prompted to create one. Click on the account type that you have, then input your email address and password linked to that account, then you will be asked to confirm your child's date of birth. Once you have done this, you will be able to access their information.

Once you have created your account, you can access this information via the website at https://www.sims-parent.co.uk or by downloading the app (SIMs Parent, purple icon as above), and signing in with the same account.

Please be aware that your password will expire every 90 days for security reasons. Parents should be able to reset their own passwords but you should ensure that the verification process and any request to set up security questions is completed to enable this function. If you are unable to reset your password, please contact the main school office who will be happy to help you.
