Key Stage 4

Key Stage 4 is delivered through an innovative three-year programme. Students take a series of GCSEs and BTEC/Level 2 qualifications through a staged approach. This has been designed to reduce the pressures and stresses that can be experienced through the more traditional two year Key Stage 4.

Students will complete two Level 2 qualifications (including GCSEs and/or BTECs) by the end of Year 10. Option subjects are allocated additional timetabled learning time in order to maximise the potential of students and build the skills to ensure success.

Students subsequently choose an additional two subjects to study in Year 11.  The option qualifications that are completed in Year 11 are allocated five 75 minute lessons per week and study begins immediately after the Year 10 examinations in June.

Throughout Key Stage 4 students continue to study English, Mathematics, Science and Physical Education. The continuation of Physical Education alongside subjects such as PSHCE, Study Skills and Leadership supports the physical and mental wellbeing of our students and allows for learners' broader development beyond the academic.

In all subject areas, our ethos of "Developing tomorrow's leaders today" is evident through the creation of a positive and respectful culture, modelling tolerance of others and developing personal confidence in how to keep healthy.
