Boys Mentoring Programme

From Mentored to Mentor: A Journey of Growth

At Amersham School, no student walks their journey alone. Our mentoring programmes bring boys together across year groups, creating strong role models, supportive friendships, and a culture of growth. Whether it’s through guidance, academic support, or the power of sport, every boy has the chance to be supported — and later, to become a mentor himself. From being mentored to becoming a mentor, every boy plays a part in building a stronger school community. Younger students benefit from encouragement and support, while older students develop leadership, empathy, and pride in guiding the next generation.

Our Boys mentoring Programme Overview

Vikings (Y8 and 9s mentored by Y12s)

Guidance. Friendship. Growth.

Vikings helps younger boys build resilience, make good choices, and find positive role models in our Year 12 mentors. It’s about support, encouragement, and growing stronger together. The outcome of this programme is to develop leadership, improve academic performance and raise the profile of males in the school.

Odins (Y10s mentored by Y11s)

Focus. Confidence. Success.

Odin gives Year 10 students practical support as they face further GCSE preparation. With Year 11 mentors sharing their experience and tips, boys learn how to manage exam pressures and believe in their ability to succeed. The outcome of this programme is to boost self-esteem whilst supporting academic pressures.

Mentoring Through Sport (Y7s mentored by Y13s)

Teamwork. Discipline. Positive Choices.

Through sport, our Year 13 mentors inspire Year 7 boys to channel energy into teamwork, self-control, and confidence. It’s about making the right choices while enjoying the power of play. The outcome of the programme looks at males in Year 7 developing pro social learning behaviors.
