Amersham School was elated with its GCSE results as everyone celebrated the success of their students in Mathematics and English, under the new system of grading from 9 to1. A fantastic 83% of the cohort attained a grade 4 or above in Mathematics with 61% gaining at least a strong grade 5-9.  The English results were amazing with 90% of the cohort obtaining at least grade 4 pass and 77% gaining a strong pass.   In addition to this incredible achievement, the school also saw a plethora of elusive grade 9’s in both Mathematics and English.  Business Studies scored 32% at Distinction*/Distinction and 28% of results in Health and Social Care were also at this high level.  BTEC Sport result was also at a high level, with 36% at Distinction*/Distinction.

Whilst it is not possible to compare these results directly with those attained in previous years, Amersham School remains in a very strong position.  81% of students achieved the equivalent of at least 5 A*- C grades including Mathematics and English and the school looks set to secure a positive Progress 8 score.

Whilst there are many students who deserve congratulations for their achievements, Barney Robinson is the top performing boy with Horeb Chohan leading the girls. Both students are delighted to have been offered places in the sixth form at Amersham School.  They are exceptionally loyal to the school and feel confident that they will continue to be both happy and successful.

I would like to congratulate each and every student for working so hard to fulfil their potential and I am looking forward to welcoming them back in September to our flourishing Sixth Form. Our staff have responded so positively to the changes in examination requirements and have worked tirelessly to ensure our students achieved such positive results.  I am passionate about providing a first class educational experience for the young people who choose to come to our school.  These results, once again, prove our strength and tenacity in securing positive outcomes for our students in a positive and happy environment.'
